The thing is, obviously, money. And no, I don't starve myself whenever I need food because I also need money to buy books; haven't reached that low point. But actually, I've gained so much advantage by saving money for books. I become more provident. Two things: I have more money, and I have books. Plus I'm happy ^^
This is just my books-that-I-bought-from-my-saved-money collection though.
And I don't know what I'm going to write.
Why am I babbling so much?
This is probably shit and all please don't judge my sense of books. I'm trying to expand my knowledge of English.
Plus I'm not in a mood for buying novels because, you know, e-books. Sigh I'm such a disgrace.
On another hand, it's apparently World Book Day today! Perfect time to post this, right?
Let's start with the first book which I bought on January.

Honestly, who wouldn't think this is the first one? You probably don't even know me then.
This is where it all begins.
I remember it was the last day of 2015, a month after I started watching Dan and Phil. I hadn't reached the typical 'phangirl' phase where I was deeply obsessed with them (look at me now). So back to the last day of 2015. I went to a mall. Normally I would go to the bookstore to see stationary, not books. But since I really REALLY was curious about TABINOF (read my last post), I went to the books section (in this case, Paper Clip; tbh you couldn't even find it in Gramedia). I don't even know but my heart was pounding while I was searching.
And then I found it.
Quite big, actually. I thought it was in normal size, but it's big (for me). Wow, it's real, I thought. It's colorful, bright, and ugh I just wanted to rip my eyeballs out when I saw the price.
I didn't even know these guys but why would I want to spend 340k on this book?
So I asked my dad if he could buy me the book. He said it was too expensive. Why don't you buy it at the end of January? He said.
"What?"
"Yeah, you can save some money and buy it! If your money isn't enough then I will add some."
That moment, I want to hug my dad so bad.
Well, it is a good point. Maybe I could buy it after I know them 'better' because when my dad asked me who are these guys I was like:
"Uhm, youtubers?"
And then he asked what youtuber is.
"They make videos on YouTube."
And then he was just pretending to understand. Sorry, dad. You will understand.
And then the idea was born! Saving money for books every month!
..........the story hasn't ended, though.
So I went to a different mall in Jakarta two days later, second day of the new year. My family and I were just strolling around when we randomly walked past Periplus. I was so happy then I turned to my dad without saying anything and he was just like:
"Go and see if there's the book you want a couple days ago."
Genuinely I would NEVER ask any workers if I need something but I just asked one of them directly - and shaking, obviously:
"Where's the Dan and Phil book?"
He just pointed to the center of the store where the book is. I grabbed and saw the price.
Wait, it's only 295k?
"Dad, it's so much cheaper here!"
"Well then just buy it."
So... Long story short, I bought it that day! Well this is not exactly from my savings but this is when my intention started.
Sorry for the long story though but here it is.
The Amazing Book is Not on Fire: The World of Dan and Phil
A book by Dan Howell and Phil Lester
Quite a long title, I know. So here I will post some pictures off the book, what I like, and just everything I want to share about this precious, holy book.

| (2) The front and back cover |
Pretty sure I have some ripped pages which I haven't realised yet.
This book is the US edition, though I really want the UK edition because it has matte pages while the US edition has glossy pages. Plus the 'From YouTube Stars' thing is not included in the UK edition.
I'm not sure where to start because I like everything about this book. The colour, the people in there, the content, just pretty much everything.
I like how they tell their childhood story, their university life, their friendship (life goals tbh), their life as roomates, etc etc etc because those are beautiful stories.
[SPOILER ALERT]
Below are some of my favourite pages:
- This is 2/6 of the only matte pages on this book. Look at those eyes. And I don't even know why Phil's eyes are so gray. I thought his eyes are greenish blue?
- The Phil is Not on Fire doodle thing pages is what I live for. The first time I read those I didn't even understand. Now I'm able to name which PINOF the page is on about. Like, those both pages are from PINOF 6. I can play the video on my mind right now. Maybe even recreate it. While singing the lizard song. THE FREEDOM I CAN'T ESCAPE THE FREEDOM okay I'm gonna stop.
- This one. I can't stop looking at them. The left one is Dan's drop-out university letter (school of law ffs Dan) and the right one is idk I assume it's the picture of Phil after finishing his Master's degree on Post-Production thing? Just. Take a moment. It has so much meanings. You don't have to finish college to be successful. Or if you're a genius and want to keep studying you can stay, get a Bachelor's degree, and even continue to do a MA to get that Master's degree and still be successful.
- Just random pictures they put in the book. But two of them including Dan with flower crown so I put this on my favourite list.
- To be honest, this story sounds like they tell us about their honeymoon. It's too cute. Japan is such a lucky country.
- The texting thing is too domestic. Let me read you one (unless your eyes have some superpower and you can read it from the picture; the center one):
Phil - Dan
Plz get me some chocolate or somethingDo u rly need chocolate
Yes u don't know what I've been
through today
What sitting on your laptop for 5 hours
There were two wasps in the lounge
(bee) (bee)
Wow ok I'll buy you chocolate
- This one is on the list because it's my three favourite people. Just, don't question it. My inner fangirl needs it.
-----...^-.-=-.*.-=-.-^...-----
Here you go! That is not all of them actually, I could go on all day. If you want to read the whole thing you can always come into my house and read it lmao jk buy it now!
Anyway yes I'm serious you can just come to my house it's easy.
But if you're interested in buying one, just buy! You won't regret it I can promise. I recommend 10/10 this book is amazing and sorta not on fire; quoting Poods.
I'll end it here. See you soon, I guess. Happy World Book Day!
